A Course I Always Wanted To Write

We’re getting ready to launch a new course, “Doing Business on a Sick Planet: 9 Reasons why you should think about the environment when making business decisions”. This will be available on our website rather than on a third-party learning platform. This is an experiment and, in the middle of last year, we talked about it in one of the interviews we publish in our monthly newsletter under the banner of “Professional Relations”.

This is a shortened version of the interview.

Q – What makes this course different?

A – This course is one I’ve always wanted to write and its directed specifically at owners and managers of business and other organisations. It’s encouraging them to make changes in the way they think about the environment or the way they make business decisions. So, it’s not a course about the environment, it’s a course about business decision making. I’ve always felt there’s an issue with the way people do business – for the sake of generating a profit with little regard for the wider issues that business has an effect on.

Q – Has the writing process been different for a more targeted audience?

A – Yes. This course started off as a short presentation, just to trial the idea. This morphed into a slightly longer presentation, and it developed on from there – it became a different sort of course.

And, we’ve been advised that we should be trying to do things for ourselves, so we can build our own audience. The difficulty is that we’re having to build our audience from scratch.

I feel it’s an important course to get out there. Whether the intended audience will feel the same, I really don’t know.
