Business Decision Making

For some time, we’ve been working on a new online environmental learning course called Doing Business on a Sick Planet: 9 Reasons why you should think about the environment when making business decisions. I know, you’re probably thinking that decision making in your business is difficult enough without having something else to consider.

But we think this is one of the most important courses we’ve put together.

By most measures, our planet is sick and along with it, the life support systems we depend on are showing signs of failure. And the sickness is the result of the things we’ve done as individuals, but, more importantly, that our businesses have done. Business is important to our lives, to our societies, to our economy.

And business can do good.

But more often our businesses cause harm to our surroundings, and, by extension, to us and our families.

To make sure our businesses have a much more positive impact on the environment, we need to think about the effect on the environment, our surroundings, when we make decisions about our business. This is about each, small decision we make in the day to day running of our businesses as well as the bigger, more strategic decisions. Most people will see this as an added burden, an added cost to the business but we need to think about it differently. If we don’t begin to think about our surroundings, it’ll become increasingly difficult and eventually impossible to continue with business as usual.

But this is a big issue and, as someone involved in running a business, you need something more tangible, something more manageable. So, rather than just another set of instructions, the course gives you 9 clear reasons why thinking about the environment will be good for your business. It’ll make it more resilient over time and resilient to the environmental shocks that are becoming increasingly familiar in our news bulletins and in reports on social media.

The full course will be available soon, but you can get a taste today.

Let us know what you think.
